Sandro Brugnolini – Utopia
Sonor Music Editions continues its reissue campaign around the lauded Italian library music label Sermi with saxophonist and bandleader Sandro Brugnolini’s Utopia, pressed in a run of 700 LP’s, directly from the original master tapes.
We’ve helped our friends at Sonor Music Editions present a series of limited edition reissues of the Italian library music label Sermi, and here we have a real killer… Originally issued in 1972 on composer and arranger Bruno Nicolai’s Gemelli imprint, and later assigned to Sermi, Sandro Brugnolini’s Utopia followed his Underground and Overground releases and is a high point of this scene.
This first, official reissue presents the late maestro’s collaboration with keyboardist Giorgio Carnini at the Hammond, under the direction of Franco Tamponi. The music ranges from funk to avant-garde to mellow jazz, a synthesis of the albums that preceded it.
So…. save yourself a couple grand (go check Discogs if you don’t believe us) and purchase one of the 700 copies Sonor Music Editions have pressed. 160gr. wax, packaged in a thick cardboard sleeve.
